General submission rules and guidelines

247TailorSteel uses the following submission rules and guidelines for laser cutting sheet metal. When submitted files deviate from these specifications, there is the possibility of an error message being received or that the products will not be submitted in accordance with the specifications.

Specifications for STEP-files

  • Nominal dimensions with symmetrical tolerances.
  • Units in millimetres.
  • A STEP-file may contain both a mono-section and a composition. Quantities in a STEP composition are taken over.
  • Sophia recognises a flat sheet, curved sheet and a tube based on the geometry. Other geometry is not recognised.
  • No bevels, screw/thread holes or recessed holes may be drawn in the 3D model. These cannot be cut.
  • A sunken hole is recognised as an engraving.
  • Sophia supports STEP formats AP203 and AP214.

Specifications for DXF/DWG-files

  • A DXF/DWG-file may only contain a flat product.
  • Upload mono-drawings: one product per digital drawing.
  • Nominal dimensions with symmetrical tolerances.
  • True-to-scale drawings 1:1.
  • Drawings may not have any double contour lines.
  • All elements in the drawing must be at the same Z-value.
  • Outside contours must be closed.
  • Single cutting lines are automatically recognized.
  • Information such as text, dimension lines and frames, etc. must be removed.
  • With the standard settings, the contours are recognized as follows:
    • Yellow: engraving
    • Green circle: starting point
    • Solid line: cutting contour
    • Other: ignore
